99 Genus Innesoconcha Iredale, 1944 Shell. Size: H = 4.3-7.8 mm, D = 6.9-12 mm. Colour: Pale yellow brown to golden brown, sometimes with a darker peripheral band. Shape: Depressedly trochoidal with a low to elevated spire; whorls rounded or flattened above and rounded below an angulate periphery; sutures weakly impressed. Sculpture: S hell smooth and glossy with fine, incised spiral grooves. Aperture: Ovately lunate; width greater than height; columella sometimes with a tooth. Umbilicus: Closed. Animal. Body pale grey or beige to black. Pale specimens have dark grey eyestalks. White specks of pigmentation on visceral mass are visible through shell. Left and right shell lappets present. Habitat and occurrence. Endemic to Lord Howe Island, where it is widespread. Semi- arboreal, living primarily in live palms but also in leaf litter. Remarks. Innesoconcha can be distinguished from closely related genus Melloconcha by its generally larger size and by the presence of both left and right shell lappets (the left shell lappet is reduced or missing in Melloconcha ). The individual species can be distinguished by a combination of shell shape and size and shell/ body colour, as well as anatomical differences.
